Climb Chimborazo Volcano Ecuador
This program concentrates on Climb Chimborazo Volcano Ecuador. Mount Chimborazo, 6,263 m. (20,548 ft.), is the highest mountain in Ecuador and his claim to fame is that its peak is the world’s furthest point from the earth’s centre. You thought that Everest was the highest mountain, or everyone knows that. That’s partly true – measured from sea level, Everest is the highest mountain… but it’s not the closest to the sun.
This means that the top of the Chimborazo is well over a mile further away from the earth’s center than Mount Everest! You literally will not find a point higher than the peak of the Chimborazo volcano.
Ecuador’s Highest Volcano
For many years European climbers thought it was the highest mountain in the world. In fact, it is the highest mountain if measured from the centre of the Earth, and it’s the mountain closest to the sun due to the Earth’s wider shape. The first ascent was made by the famous expeditionary Edward Whymper back in 1892. The mountain has four main summits.
Climb Chimborazo Volcano Ecuador will offer a challenge to even the most experienced mountaineer; it is a technical climb and the long approach to reach the peak will certainly push your physical limits. In addition to proper acclimatisation, excellent physical condition is required to cover the 1.300-meter altitude difference between the Whymper Refuge and the summit, a 9 to 12-hour trek over never-ending glaciers.
Climbers blessed with good weather during the summit attempt will be rewarded with an incredible view of Ecuador’s other stunning peaks such as Cotopaxi, El Altar, and Sangay. The descent back to the Chimborazo’s Whymper Refuge at 5,000 m (16,400 ft.) normally takes between 2 and 3 hours. Climb Chimborazo Volcano Ecuador
